You will be prompted through the registration process and have the opportunity to register others such as members of your family or team. All participants registered will have a fundraising page created during the registration process.
During the registration process, you will be asked if you are fundraising in a team. From the drop-down select Yes – I want to Fundraise in a new team and provide the team name . It’s important that that you allocate one person per team to set up the team for others to join to avoid duplication.
Alternatively, please feel free to register individually (without joining a team) and send a list of all the team members to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will add you all to the same team.
All participants will have a fundraising page created in their name upon registering. We encourage you to fundraise what you can as all funds raised will stay in the Geelong community helping people experiencing homelessness and poverty.
Yes, you can register. However, you must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian over the age of 18 who is also registered for the event. You must include their details on your registration form as your emergency contact and as our team will be checking up to make sure they are also a registered attendee. For more detail on this, please see our event terms and conditions.
Please be aware that we only provide cardboard and an outdoor sleeping location. As this event is held in winter, please take careful consideration when bringing young children.
Yes. Find a safe place to securely store the cash and deposit the cash into the St Vincent de Paul Society Bank Victoria account. Bank details can be found in your host guide or as below:

Please be sure to use the full name of your sleepout in the payment description and send a follow up email to email@example.com with all the donor details. We will arrange a receipt and add the donation to your sleepout page total.
Alternatively, you can keep the cash and make the donation to your page on their behalf using your credit card. A receipt will then be automatically sent to their email address you have put in the donation form.

All donations made online will automatically have a tax-deductible receipt emailed to the donor. If a donor makes a donation in cash, please record their details on the donation receipt form found on our Resources page, send it in to email@example.com and we will arrange a receipt to be sent to the donor.

The weather will be cold and potentially wet. Make sure you wear very warm, comfortable, casual clothes. Please bring your own sleeping bag and pillow. Electronic items such as mobile phones, tablets and cameras are very welcome to capture your experience of the Sleepout.
The Geelong Community Sleepout is a night to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, and not just with the sleeping arrangements.
The event is an opportunity to learn about homelessness and the important role of local Vinnies services in assisting people in need. There will be a formal presentation, a simple dinner of soup and rolls and then it’s time to bed down for the evening outdoors with only the bare essentials.
There are no scheduled activities on the morning after. We provide a light breakfast. We suggest you spend some time reflecting on what you learned and experienced overnight, and share your reflections with the people who have donated to your page and supported you through the event.
